Lullabies for the land is an installation by the artist and composer Yuval Avital, created in response to the current historical – political scenario, in collaboration with the Ukrainian pianist Anastasia Stovbyr, (voice curator) and the Ukrainian artist OKNO (performance designer).
The central part of the installation are the voices of Ukrainian women, who can share lullabies, songs, and even breaths through an open call via email and a dedicated Telegram channel. The collected voices are then elaborated by Avital in a sound envrivoment, in continuous evolution and growth.
The visual part of the installation, is a reflection of the Ukrainian flag and it’s meaning a
circular field where the yellow of the flag is made of wheat , and on the perimeter are
placed bowls of water to reflect the blue of the sky. The ring of loudspeakers spreading
the voices of Ukrainian women are covered by Ochipoks, traditional Ukrainian headpieces.
