Cave Canem is a choreographic performance created by Avi Kaiser and Sergio Antonino, accompanied by an original score composed and performed live by Yuval Avital. The show features eleven performers and explores the complex web of emotions and interactions that exist within a group. Inspired by the well-known mosaic at the entrance of the “House of the Tragic Poet” in Pompeii, which serves as a warning against encroaching too closely on private space, the performance delves into themes of intimacy, voyeurism, and the delicate balance between personal and collective experience.
The set and costumes were designed by Andrea Stanisci, with video art by Dimitrios Tsantidis and live electronics by Matteo Salvemini.
The production was a collaboration between several cultural institutions, including Akzente Festival Duisburg, Kunststiftung NRW, and Fondazione Teatro Comunale di Modena(CAVE CANEM locandina).
